Does anyone have any good threads or pictures for their own CB radio placement. I have a nice full sized cobra unit that I want to install and I want it to be out of the way but still easy to get to from the driver seat. I was thinking that they cubby under the head unit area would be a good place. Just trying to figure out how I would mount it.

Sure, which year is yours? I have an 03' and here is my install: I have a Connex 4600 mounted on the side of the center console, a RS scanner mounted into the center bezel. I will post more photos later of my other radios I have installed. The post you see sticking up is for my Jotto-Desk Laptop computer mount. This is also model specific so you don't have to drill.

Here is the deal and this is something I would suggest to anyone that is **** and really cares about their truck like I do....

Go down to your local pick a part junk yard and try to find the same Tahoe/Sub or truck that has the same color (if your lucky) and has the same interior as yours. Once you find one, pull all the parts off of it and replace your original ones with the junkyard ones. Then, DRILL AWAY! Who cares! At least your trucks interior panels and bezels are going to stay nice and put away. This way you can modify the heck out of the interior of your truck and not worry about it. I have a bunch of radio gear in mine so doing this was a no brainer. Since I care a lot about my beast, I was not going to ruin the inside. All together I paid around 80.00 for all the interior parts and it was well worth it. If you do go this route, just be sure to check that there are no wires or anything in the way behind the plastic bezel that is going to get ruined. I had to tuck 4 wires and do a small reroute.

That's how I had it mounted in my Tacoma. It wasn't bad, but I was hoping someone had done something where you have your scanner. I have a full size cobra radio, and was thinking of trying it there. I might just have to try it and see what happens. Good call on the junk yard parts though. I am need to find two good driver side doors anyways, so a hunting I shall go!
