center console key?

What key will lock the center console? Thanks in advance.

I beleive it was a seperate key, mine was gone too when I bought it, none of the keys work and the dealership told my some god awefull amount to rekey it

That is correct. It is a separate smaller key. Forget the dealership. Search eBay for GM compartment key. Your key code is on the lock cylinder. I think I paid about $5. Works perfectly.

I have never seen a key for that model year. Search GM compartment key on eBay. There were a lot of different models listed. Check your lock cylinder for a code and contact one of the sellers.

Good to know. I went to the dealer a few years ago hoping they could cut a key for it based on my VIN. But they said that the console key isn't VIN specific. They also told me that the lock is NOT replaceable (at least not without cutting or mangling the console lid). They tried to sell me a new console lid complete with lock and key for like $280 or so. I respectfully declined.
For $8, I might try this route tho.
