I have a 2001 GMC Yukon XL with abut 230k miles. about 6 months ago the Check Eng Oil Light would come on when I would start it up abut would quickly go away once I put the car in gear. Now it comes on when I start it up and it stays on until then engine gets warm and then it goes off. I also notice that the oil gauge stays at zero until the car warms up then it jumps up to normal levels. Does anyone have any thoughts? could it just be a sensor?

Any help would be awesome!

Don't know if this will help. But a friend of mine had the same problem with his rig. He accidently put the wrong weight oil in there. Called for 5w-30 and he put 15w-40 in there. He ended up doing an engine flush and putting correct oil in there and solved his problem. Could be just a sensor. I know this sounds like a stupid question not trying to insult you. But have you checked the oil on a level surface? Some people just never check it or check it on a hill and reads full when its actually low.
