Check engine light on and remote start will not work

as i was pulling into my driveway, my engine light came on. assuming it was a gas cap issue, i tightened up the cap and left. 1 hour later, i was walking to my car, pressed the remote start, i could hear the usual little whine and click you hear before it starts and then nothing. so now that will not work. are the 2 related. have yet to bring it in to get the code. everything runs fine, battery is at 13, engine temp is 200-210, tranny temp is 180-190, oil pressure is up to around40-42. cranks by the key everytime, getting my usual 15-16mpg on the massive mountains of gainesville fl

I had the same thing happen a few months ago.. When the check engine light comes on remote start will not work. My issue was a crank sensor I believe.

My '07 does the same thing. I don't know what's causing it, but it gets on my nerves. At least I live in Texas... don't need remote start very much here.

I use it all the time, it's too damn hot! Hopefully the tint will make it better

midas just did an oil change and wrote that i have a evaporator emission system vent cont, for whatever that means
