Dam. Did they use to bog in that Hoe?

I'm pretty sure that is just accumulated from the vents behind the panels on the outside. I think I have a pic on my phone and upload later if so, but its looked like to me that the vents would let in dirt and dust from a dirt road while driving and spread it throughout the interior behind all the panels. As you can see in the pictures and then also inside the pillars. All that dirt and dust mixed with the water leak I had with the rear hatch and you get **** in side your frame. Idk how long this leak had been going on but that mud was in both side prolly a good inch deep, and I still didn't get it all out. When I tear it apart this summer I will for sure be cleaning allll the nook and crannies.

Iv done some major detailing jobs for trucks in the oil fields so this will be a breeze, other than those were trucks not SUVs so less work with panels and removing seats and stuff like that.

Dam. I'm surprised that it didn't get smelly back there.

The truck has a bit of a moist smell but luckily I have found no mold or mildew, yet anyways. The first thing I need to do once I get enough sun and no rain is get the seats and then the carpet out to completely dry out and then also wipe down the rest of the innerds.

Get a really bright light and put it under your drivers side in a dark garage. Hope that the light shines through the hole into the cabin. Mine ended up being a invisible hairline crack at the edge of the panel sealent bead under the pedals.

If been chasing this for a good month now. Last night it rained so much when I opened my door the water was literally running over the weather stripping at the floor board. FML!

I have been researching this have found multiple reasons that this could be and I'm leaning more towards your solution each day I look around or somewhere at the firewall where the rubber wire garments are at is letting water in somehow but that's much less likely. Thanks for the help and I'll for sure be checking this when I work on er this weekend.

The light trick didn't work for me. Another member here alerted me to a common problem under the fender where the runoff from the wiper cowl runs down the side of the inner fender. I eliminated that by putting some food color in the wiper cowl slots and running water to see if colored water made it in. Although the problem is the same. The seam sealer they put cracks and water gets in. Mine would only get wet when driving in the rain. I just said f it and got some silicone and went over each seam I could see and boom solved the problem. I used clear silicone and later tried the light test and saw a little light peaking through at the seam under the pedals.
I'm glad it wasn't at the inner fender because the fender would have had to come off to fix.

Sorry this is so long.

If you suspect after the coloring it's at the fender the inner portion is hollow. Stuff a piece of construction paper in the pillar and see how high it gets water stained.

Sounds good ill for sure be looking around that area. I got some rattle can spray sealer today and already have some silicone i can use. Ill just go at it with the sealer on the outside and inside. I took a look again today and after i cleared all the water out I checked the seams and they are lifted and looks like they would be letting water into the floor board. If i have enough time this weekend this will be 2nd on my list of things to do. Gotta get my leveling kit installed first, lol, priorities. Thanks for the help

BTW, you said the fender would have to come off, like the whole fender or just the wheel well lining to get to the seem?

I never got that far but I think the whole fender to get it good. Try the food dye trick. It will let you know if it's commingled from up high.
