Hey guys, Im thinking about putting a chip or tuner on my hoe, its the 5.3 with around 126xxx on it. The guy I bought the truck from said a new tranny was put in 3 years ago (its a 2001) but i dont believe it, it doesnt feel like a semi new tranny.

Im curious as to what others think about chipping an older motor. im looking for fact or opinion, not what brand is best or this or that. just want some advice from experience, what problems i may have with age, will there be a difference felt in power since the motors older blah blah blah.. thanks alot guys!

I say go for it! I have about the same mileage and year as you and got a Blackbear tune a couple years ago. Best money I ever spent and it really woke the truck up!

alright cool, now ive been reading about the blackbear tunes and they sound like their the way to go for these trucks. ill check other threads and read up on them more, what else is pretty good, anyone using edge or superchips?

a big 10 negative.

Black Bear is in SoCal, and their tunes will out perform any hand held...trust me. Best mod I have done to mine.:Handshake:
