Hey everyone. New guy here on the site. I just wanted to ask an opinion on something that happened the other day at my local G.M. dealer where i bought my new Yukon Denali. Here's the problem: I went to the dealer to pick up a Chrome fuel door for the Yukon and they offered to install it,well i took a real quick look at the stock one and assumed that they were bolted on with Torx head bolts and thought sure no problem, should take them 5 min max. Well a half hour later i walk into the shop and a young "Technican" was busy drilling holes in the rivets to get the stock one off. Well he made a complete mess of it and the holes he drilled were huge and ragged. So to cover up his mistake he ground off the theaded inserts on the new gas door and installed it with huge pop rivets that just barely covered up the holes he drilled. I would have thought he would have used the supplied Torx head bolts that came with the new fuel door. Anyway... I'm pissed to say the least! What should i say to them,I dont know how they are gonna fix it without replacing the whole quarter panel. I just want it to look factory clean, not pop riveted on. I told the sales manager and he wants his head service tech to look at it. What a fuggin pain. Anyway.. Am I being unresonable?:whymewhyme: We just spent 80k on a new truck and its not even a week old.

I would be very pissed if I were you. Take it back and tell them that you will take anothing short of it being fixed properly.

This. That's what I would expect from some ghetto body shop not a GM dealership. Don't ask them. Demand it be replaced. If they care about customer loyalty they'll do it no questions asked.

Chrome fuel door is tacky imo.

No matter how much you spend on one it still looks Autozone fresh.

From my CB Radio.

Thanks for the response. The chrome fuel door is as far as I know OEM from their accessory catalogue. I still have the original black fuel door but its got some ugly ragged drill holes in it.LOL. I'm stil on the fence as to wether i like the chrome one better than the black one. I definetly dont like the big shiny pop rivets greeting me when I'm getting fuel. I know the service manager personally from the drag strip, He just needs to see it and decide what to do. My fiance uses the truck monday to friday so she is more upset than me.

Anyway, thankyou all and I will post the results of how they fix it.

Now... I dont see any forum dedicated to towing so I wanted to ask if anyone has towed a 25' boat with a simular setup as mine. (6.2 AWD) Loaded with all the gear its gotta be pushing 7000 lbs. I already had to buy another brake controler as the factory one dosent work with Elec over Hyd. I used to tow with my lifted blazer on 35s with a big block and it towed awesome but was really loud and no A/C. BTW it also had 4.10 gears in it.

Thanks in advance
James

I think I don't mind the OEM chrome doors... But there has to be a decent amount of other OEM chrome on the vehicle.

Anyway, you have to take and post a pic of this mess!

Sorry for your troubles. Sounds like a bad situation.
