Clarion NX509 vs Alpine 9886...audiophiles weigh in

Ive got the Alpine but Im wanting to get a DD with nav. Ive got what I think is a good deal on the Clarion but I dont know much about it and can't find any video reviews online.

I've got a 6 channel amp, 2 subs, components up front and coax in the rear. Would the Clarion be a good unit?

i cant say much about the alpine. we dont sell them. but we do sell a pile of the nx501s and they work great!! sq is good. ui is really good! i will be replacing my kenwood excelon with one very soon.

so hows the 509 compare to the 501? when i use my iphone with it do i have to use the clarions UI or can i use my phone? would it work well with my current system?

I may not be much help here but I have always hated Alpine's. I have an older Clarion and think the user face isn't as good as some of the other brands I have looked at.

you can use your iphone through bluetooth for hands free calling and audio streaming. if your using pandora you can advance to next song with the decks touch screen. if you are listening to stored music you would use the iphone to track up and down.

Alpine 9887. Fantastic head unit that'll run active.

I'd go for the Clarion. NAV is a really nice feature.
