Hey fellas, whats up? I've got another weird electrical issue on my 2002 Tahoe 4x4. Whenever I apply the brakes while in park there's a clicking sound coming from somewhere around the column and instrument cluster. Any ideas?

I am pretty sure its just a relay, mine does it too and I am pretty sure they all do.

Turn up your radio, It goes away.

There's no relay in the stop lights circuit.

What you're hearing is the shifter interlock solenoid that prevents you from shifting out of Park without pressing the brake pedal.

It's normal. I don't think you can make the mechanism quieter without redesigning it, unless it's unusually loud for this type of vehicle.

If it's really loud compared to other GMT800 trucks, you might swap the mechanism in from another truck.

Then again, you only hear it when you press the brake pedal before you shift out of park so it may not be worth the effort.
