Clunk/boom when shifting to reverse
I replaced rear ujoints and it's still doing it. Would bad motor mounts make it clunk when shifting into reverse? Also what about the front drive shaft? What all maitainance needs to be done in that area besides the ujoints? I looked up the part number but they are coming up as rear ujoints. Are the front the same as the back?

Transmission/driveshaft splines get worn with mileage... a lot of guys remove the shaft and pack with heavy grease... I have even seen where some guys stick a rubber ball inside the splines.

You did not mention your make/model or mileage. Automatic transmissions are notorious for being LAZY when shifting to reverse when transmission FILTER needs changing due to partially clogged.
As for sloppy splines, WHITE LEAD is much better and will last longer. Hope this helps and let us know.

Just to update this thread i finally figured it out today. Its the driver side differential mount. I seen the whole front differential move today and the bushing is gone. Now i have to figure out how to change it out. There aren't any write ups on here for this
