Guys see if ya can help me here. Truck started popping out the exhaust yesterday. got the codes read if it helps. 4 of them. yikes:893Chainsaw-Smilie- P1345 says its a possible camshaft to crankshaft position correlation fault. next one....P0420 says its a possible cat convertor bad or engine misfire...P0430 basically same shit as previous code....last code is P0300 says its possible powertrain control module monitors the crankshaft speed and has detected a misfire condition. possible cause spark plugs, wires, coil.....doubt its the coil wires plugs to be honest.

Listen Im thinking 2 things here. 1....bad cats and possible bad crankshaft/camshaft sensor....or 2. Bad timing chain with 155,000 on it..Or maybe 3.....Do all of it and hope ***** good? help me here fellas please:worship::hunter::mfr_omg:

Ross,

BEFORE you even try buying parts and throwing em at the problem, find out what your current camshaft retard timing is set at, I bet its around -15 degrees or more, causing the P0340 codes. Have you removed the distributor by any chance or check if it is loose? You will need a suitable scanner to read this info like a Tech II or Snap on etc. Try fixing this problem first, which will probably fix the random misfire P0300 code and poor driveability symptoms. You will need to place the Cam retard at 0 degrees +/- 2 degrees. You can also do a search on here for any more info, as myself and other members have written stuff on these problems.

Goodluck!

I forgot to add aswell, you might be right on the chain, but also check your distributor gear, it might be chipped or missing teeth.

my issue was the distributor gear began to shear appart and was gradually more and more off center until it completely spun out all the teeth were ground down

well I replaced the timing chain. No luck. Still popping.....Gonna do the fuel filter today but I need some advice here. WTF is going on with my hoe? Timing chain was bad so I no the new cloyes helped. But Im still gettin popping sounds like misfiring or some shit. Both cats are fine I had them checked yesterday. Could it be bad fuel filter? Dist. Cap? Ive got good wires and plugs and stuff. Msd ignition and coil that has never given me any issues. Maybe the Distrubtor cap? help me here guys b4 i start swearin

Biggwaukegan,
i had a similar issue. it turned out that when i did my tune up they shipped me the wrong spark plug wires. if your ignition is Delphi, make sure you get the shorter wires. that resolved my issue and mine doesnt misfire anymore. fuel filter could cause this. also check your spark plugs and make sure the gap is set using the recommended measurements.
