Cold Air Inductions or Vararam?

Hi,

I am considering to swap out the Airaide Junior CAI with the Synthemax filter I have installed on my 2009 Tahoe with the 5.3 to either the system produced by Cold Air Inductions (http://www.coldairinductions.com/2007-2008-4-8l-5-3l-6-0l-chevrolet-tahoe-intake-system) or to the Vararam Tripower (http://www.vararam.com/tri-power/tri-power.html).

Has anyone had experience with either of these models on their Tahoe and can share your experience? I am assuming either of these would work well with the Blackbear tune.

blackbear specifically tested intakes and it showed Airaide Junior out performed all other intakes...

That's why it's the go-to for TYF. Doesn't get any simpler/easirer. Unless you're going for a better looking system why would you switch?

One of the reasons I want to switch from Airaid is because the the tube keeps falling off from the throttle body connector.

On the Airaid Jr, would you use the oiled or non-oiled filters?

2kgrit sandpaper on the inside 1/4" of the coupler and some 3m spray adhesive will hold it on.

Non oiled.

Use some aqua-net hair spray on the boots. It will not come off. I used to use it on my Dodge Ram Turbo diesel to keep the boots from blowing off. At 60psi of boost I never lost a boot after using the aqua-net.

Use the dry filter. The oil from the filter can cause problems with the MAF sensor.

I just installed the Airaid Jr. on a new 5.3. Best bang for the buck you're gonna get. Even the wife who doesn't notice anything commented on it.
