When the thermometer says this:

Your exhaust looks like this:

The air is so cold that it literally cannot hold any moisture, so the moisture in your exhaust condenses immediately and eventually settles to the ground, and on your car.

And other bad things happen, the drive belt in the engine was making strange noises, as well as the power steering pump would grumble like it was low on fluid, the shocks are frozen solid, no movement out of them, the brakes were grabby, and the pedal was very stiff, and took several seconds for them to release because the fluid is so thick. The heater has it's limits, with a grille cover to keep the air out of the radiator, the fan on full blast, I had a jacket on at the end of a road trip and my fingers were getting cold and the windshield was icing up.

Brutal, brutal cold...

I need to thaw out...

Oh and btw, the mirror thermometer reads to -40 and no more, so you know it's getting colder by the fact that it's getting colder inside.

And does anyone know why the passenger side of the windshield and the passenger window fog up quicker than the driver side? I've noticed it in both my parents 98 and 99 Suburbans and my Yukon. Puzzling...
