Hey everyone, since my 97 2 door Hoe is new to me with 330 000kms(200 000 miles), I decided to do a compression test tonight just to get an idea on the condition of the engine. The readings are between 180 and 190 psi, which I thought was pretty good for such a high mileage motor.

My question is, do these readings seem right? I checked each cylinder 3 times and averaged the reading. it had lots of cranking juice but it wasn't at normal operating temp.

I did search this topic but all the info I found said normal readings are 120-150.

Any info or advice would be great!

Thanks

I shop just did that on one I just aquired and found all but two were within 170-175. I did have two adjacent cylinders 5-7 read 143 and 145. I am hoping to avoid looking into it as I have a MAF/injector/oxy issue to deal with to pass smog. My truck has 235k on it now. may be perhaps there is carbon build up in your cylinders.
