If it were me I'd epoxy a plastic or wooden block in between to give enough clearance when drawing the pistol. The last thing I'd want in a defensive force situation is for my weapon to get caught up on the console.

That's a good idea, I'll give the epoxying a 6block a shot.

tojo152 has a very good suggestion for you, n2advnture. Looking at your pictures, you might need to cut the block at a slight angle to get the bottom of the grip farther away from the wall so the entire weapon lines up better, and away, from the overhang of the lid.

As far as leaving the candy in the safe, and a youngster knowing the candy is there, I'd come up with a different hiding spot. I don't trust any kid to NOT get in trouble!

Excellent point and I should have mentioned that the firearm is never stored in there without me in the driver's seat (unless entering an establishment where my permit prohibits it).

And it's never in center console with him in the vehicle.

Additionally, nobody knows the combo, not even the wifey.

Found this thread while looking to see if a Console Safe was available for a 2010 Tahoe. Wow! This met and exceeded my expectations. I ordered it on Sunday, received it on Thursday, and installed it on Saturday. With the video from Bobby Newell and the suggestions of n2advnture to leave out the front, back, and bottom plates, installation was fast. The ability to plug in the Ipod with the Safe closed is great.
I ordered the 2011X, but it looks like the 2011E would have met my needs. With the 10% discount from this forum, the cost difference was minimal. I can always add the other plates if I decide the extra security is what I need.
Thank you to RGNEWELL and StevenFromTexas for all of the instructions, reviews, and advice!
