2014 Tahoe SSV. 114,*** miles
Installed new struts and coils up front, new shocks out back roughly 5,*** miles ago.

New tires and AR rims 20” stock rubber General grabber UHP’s. Thru Discount tire. Mounted and balanced and shipped to the front door.

Im getting a shake in the steering wheel as well as thru the seat when driving.

I have re-torqued the wheels and do not see any signs of lost weights.

It hasn’t been aligned fearing I will need to replace the control arms.

The control arms front both upper and lower are showing signs of wear. I’m not sure if I have the aluminum knuckles or the iron ones, honestly have to get under the truck again.

The back look ok but I do get a rattle thunk from the back while driving.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to the vibration?

Do any of you guys have part #’s for replacement arms based on this truck being an SSV? I’ve looked at RA and found ones for the PPV’s/rwd police package.

Suggestions help, your a dumb ass comments appreciated.

I can take pics possibly later on today providing I can get off duty early enough.

get it aligned, first
rattle/thunk in the rear could be rear sway bar end links check to see if they are missing any bolts or bushings
control arms are pretty unlikely to be the cause of a shake unless there fubar and flop around in your hand
if you want to know the correct control arm part numbers then enter your vin here ->https://parts-catalog.acdelco.com/catalog/catalog_search.php
or post up the last 8 of your vin and @915_Tahoe can tell you.

Would the opinion be that there is a tire out of balance that would cause the shake then? These tires and rims are less than 1000 miles old! No real holes to cause something to go out. All highway miles.

if the shake started immediately after installing the rims/tires than you allready know the answer? If on the other hand the rims/tires are balanced they will make a worn front end hard to detect on smooth asphalt but when you hit a bump or any irregular surface than worn parts will shake/rattle/wobble/wander/pull, im sure i missed somthing? if your toe/camber is fubar than you could litterally wear a tire within a few hundred miles to the point of being out of balance, it would be evident as an inner/outer shoulder of the tire will be gone/scalloped. if your shade tree like me, rotate the rear's to the front and fronts to rear and see if the shake moves.

Shade tree. You betcha!

The tires are wearing well thankfully not chopped up to bits etc.

I jacked the beast up this evening loosened up the tires, then retightened them this time using the torque wrench to 140ftlbs.

I’ll drive it tomorrow and see if there’s any improvement. If not will swap front to rear and go from there.

Im essential (pharmacy) and getting this stuff done isn’t easy especially getting the shop near work or even the dealer to get an alignment done.
