I have a 2005 chevy tahoe which has an overhead rear airconditioning control panel mounted on the roof just in front of the rear seat. I am interested in pulling that out and mounting an overhead dvd player instead. I was wondering if any one out there can help me out and advise whether I can tap in the wiring harness to my dvd overhead player to the existing wiring harness that supplied the airconditioning controls? Oh, by the way the unit that I want to install is the Audiovox 10" dvd player (auxmtg10ua)

That's a great little DVD system for the money! No, you can not use the controls power source as the power source for the dvd system. It's best to pick up power at the power distribution block on the driver's side. You don't have to throw away the controls either. They can be moved off to the side.

Thank you Ponchonutty. I am thinking of another alternative. I will probably cut out another small hole to re-locate the airconditioning control unit. Then re-route the power source wiring of the overhead dvd unit to the radio and splice into the radio power/ground wires.
