I have a 2005 Yukon 2WD and I was wanting to convert it to 4WD so I could do some off roading. What all would need to be changed out and about how much would it all cost?

Trade it in on a 4x4, it will be cheaper. It's real easy to go from 4x4 to 4x2, but the other way around is not practical.

It's not that hard. Gonna have to swap front axle, trans, t case, do the electrical unless you convert to floor shift and still gotta do some electrical work. It's a good bit of work but nothing a donor truck can't give. I would go old school axles for easier 4wd but yea.. It's a good bit of work

i've looked into it. with a donor vehicle and a lot of knowledge and metal work ability its possible. if you could find a rolling chassis 4x4 it would be even easier just swap the body onto it.

hardest part is to weld in the mounts for the front diff and the electrical wiring/programming. like said with a donor vehicle its very possible but a lot of work.

parts list consists of:
trans/transfer case
front dshaft
mounts for front diff
front diff
cvs
4wd front hubs
wiring/programming

i'm still considering it for whenever i do my drivetrain swap. but thats going to be literally years from now. hopefully will consist of a 6.0 lq9 4l80 14 bolt 6 lug rear and not sure what transfer case.

Don't NBS tahoes have coil spring front suspension? I'd think that would have to be converted over to torsion bars as well... requiring quite a few more parts. A frame swap would definitely be the easiest solution, aside from trading.

Exactly. It's not practical. Buy a 4wd truck from the start.
