2011 Tahoe Spider Gear lineup

I have a 2011Tahoe with a GU4/G80 differential, limited slip posi. I already have pulled my carrier and am replacing the spider gears and side gears. Can someone explain to me how to use the marks on the gears to line them up and roll them in. Sorry but this is my 1st time digging into the rear end just having trouble rolling the new spider gears in with the new thrust washers. Any and all advice will be welcome. Thanks much in advance.

What axle is this?

The shims/spacers are supposed to be tight fit, to provide a force so the bearings/races don't chatter. I think if you install the shims, you can tap the spacer in place carefully.

I found online a contraption out of steel tube and 5/8" threaded rod as a redneck "case spreader". They actually make those tool and it uses the holes on the rear to open the differential cases a few thousands to make installing the shims a bit easier.

On the spider gears, as you roll them in.... You'll want one gear turning one way and the other turning the opposite way. When everything is in the right place and the gears mesh and rotate, you'll be surprised how easily they roll in.....

Thanks for the advice I will try again. When I read about the marks on the side gears and spider gears I thought they may need to be lined up a certain way. I will try rolling them in without the thrust washers just to get the feel. Could have been when I tried that one or more of the guide clips on the clutch pack may have moved into my way. I will post an update as soon as I can. Thanks again for the advice

It is a 3.08 limited slip posi with the gov locks. There are 2 marks on the spider gears and on the side gears inside the differential carrier that are supposed to be some sort of line up guide. Hard to find much about them on the net. They are not on the ring and pinion gears as far as I know

Did you remove the governor first? I thought that was the first step to servicing the internals of the carrier?

I have to buy the J-26252 tool to remove the governor for when I service the clutch packs in mine someday.
