Ok, before the my buddy/mechanic/uncle's brothers friend said............

Why did DEXCool get the name DEXKill? These opinions and discussions are about a decade or two late and no longer relevant. Do the research in the chemistry of DEXCool and how it was improperly rolled out.

GM screwed the pooch and initially started using it in vehicles (1998-2000ish timeframe) which were still vent style cooling systems; specifically or example case the GMT400 platform. That was causing the coolant to become acidic and that's where the problem stemmed from. (NOTE: there are/is countless articles, videos and reference material out there if you look for it.)

Once GM went to closed coolant systems the problem disappeared. Only took a bunch of chemist and engineers to figure it out.

How do I know.......well working as a tech, talking to GM Master techs and doing that crazy thing called research. Our culture here in America needs to friggin change and stop taking everyone's word on everything w/o researching it.

But, I read on the internet that...

The problem with new and presumably innovative ideas is that they are only great until they are not. I can think of many such items but one we all know about is asbestos. It was such a ground breaking discovery for construction, until it wasn't and how long did it take for that to be determined? Fire treated lumber is another.

That Evans waterless coolant is like 60 bucks a gallon. I've heard of people running it in motorcycles and atv/utv but I don't know much about it. I'll just stick with dexcool in the yukon it's treated me good so far.
Plus you have to buy their flush to chase all the water-based coolant out of the system, and they want $30 a gallon for that, and it gets dumped!

I ran Evans in my rear engine dragster a few yrs ago. It had a 572 ci big block chevy. It's cooling system was too small, only 2 gals. I ran Evans to prevent boil overs. When I sold the engine I drained the Evans out and have it in storage. The stuff is too expensive to let go to waste.

A neighbor works for a billionaire that has 40 ole Smithsonian quality warbirds. He runs Evans in the liquid cooled warbirds like his P-51 Mustang etc.

Yessir, it has its place for sure. I just don’t think that includes a GM SUV in most cases. Maybe for somebody like @randeez who’s pushing an ungodly amount of hp and has a modified cooling system. Plus he’s rich af lol.
