My Perma-Cool electric fan’s took a dump. I lost track of the exact time, but I think they are about five or six years old.

Looked for replacement motors and found a new Flex-a-lite system, is the same price as two motors for the old system. They also stopped making Perma Cool systems a while back. I think I know why now.

The new Flex-a-lite should arrive in a week or so. I hope the install goes smooth.

Any of you guys with Flex-a-lite found anything to be concerned with?

Only thing to be concernd about is sticking your fingers in the blades, they are razor sharp.

Besure to break them in properly.
AKA cold beer in hand standing in garage with some pals, watching your fans go round and round. Like this...

It caused a heater hose to blow off, leaving a trail of antifreeze down the freeway for a ways.

It happened close to home, so I was able to coast into the garage. A thirty amp fuse had blown and I suspect the relays may be damaged.

The new setup will replace all the electrical, so it should be solid again for a few years.

I had thought about going back to a fan on the water pump, but my water pump turns backwards from stock, so it would take some research to find the correct fan to get it done.

Do you think one of those double fan flexalite systems would dramatically help cool the a/c consenser? For nearly 500 they better! LOL

You are correct, they are alive and well, in Canada.

Summit and Jegs are no longer carrying their “cool-pack” radiator kit.

The perma-cool system I have, originally cost me close to $600.00. You can still buy it from their Canadian home office for $1,311.00.

About a year after I had installed this system, I found the internal wiring was not heavy enough to handle the amperage of the fans. I had to re-wire the fans and use external relays to correct the burnt factory wiring.

After that, they worked fine, except for snapping shear pins about once a year.

I am looking forward to the flex-a-lite, with hope that they are at least equal to the perma cool. They can’t be any worse.

There is no doubt however, the Perma Cool is certainly not worth $1,311.00.:)

So which flexalite are you going with? Did you notice the a/c blew colder once you installed the electric fan?

They are still in California. Give them a call and let them explain to you what happened and why you don't see them on jegs or summit.

Maybe they could help get the old ones working again.

And they still have the cool-packs

I do think the flexalites are a better option.
