No idea what vehicle this is for, but I'm going to guess it's for a OBS Suburban 2500

1- No idea. I'd just use a slip-joint pliers to loosen it
2- 30 ftlbs
3- Gonna wanna use air tools on that. I don't really have any other way

I read...

Hold the pulley with a strap wrench and than use a large wrench to remove the fan clutch nut. Of course you will need to remove drive belt to do that. Add 2 minutes.

Oops, didnt read that until I posted. Dont know anything about that engine set up, I assume its similar.

The year of the 454 matters, the old stuff I've always been able to use a long closed end wrench, put it on, give it a switch smack and the nut should break loose. If it doesn't you can typically get it into a position where the force you apply isn't' trying to turn the pump and fan just the bolt ...

i left the belt on and as stated give it a swift smack for breakaway torque , or option 2 drain oil start vehicle floor it until engine seizes and then it wont break away .... kind of my Al Green humor attempt

good strap wrench, adjustable wrench and a hammer! the loan a tool crap at autozone didnt fit so thats finally how I did it. If you go with a lincoln mrk8 electric fan you wont have to worry about doing it again (changing the fan clutch that is). :alone:
