I just bought a 2003 Yukon with 126k. I know it has an oil leak and coolant leak. When I start the car the oil pressure goes straight to 80. For the first minute or two of driving, when the car is about to shift the pil pressure will go down to 0. Once it's shifted it will go back to 80 and bounce around some. After a minute or two of driving it will stay at 80. There is no oil level low warning.

Also the coolant is leaking. Would this just be a leaks in either the radiator, hose, or coolant container. Or does the coolant go into the engine at all?

Lastly, it takes two turns of the key to start the car. The first turn the car tries to turn over but it seems like the battery is low. The second turn starts it right up and a whisp of smoke comes out of the exhaust. My battery gauge is at 14 and the connections are solid. Is this a spark plug issue? dying battery?

Thanks!

Well, you didn't mention if you checked the oil BUT assuming it's good you have symptoms that I had when my oil pressure sensor was going bad. It would peg at max than zero out than max...sensor replacement fixed that.

The startup issue will be harder to peg. You could have your battery tested to verify cca value. If your leaking coolant it's possible you've got some in the cylinders...why it may be a little hard to crank. Could also be an indicator of a starter problem. You'll need to trouble shoot this & get a little more info.

like said above it does sound like the oil pressure sensor/sender is bad. You need to try and find the coolant leak, when the water pump starts to go it has a weep hole that coolant will leak out of.

What color is the smoke that comes out of the exhaust? Your starter could be on its way out possibly. You could always take it out and have it tested.

two turns of the key to start
thats the same thing mine did when the fuel pump was going out
white smoke puffing out mite indicate that coolant is leaking into your cylinders

You could do a Blackstone laboratories oil test and it will tell you if you are getting coolant in the oil.

my tahoe had cracked heads and that was why coolant was mixing with the oil. With 170k on the engine I just had a whole new engine put in. Not to mention the old engine had pretty good knocking when it started.

Ok I crawled under the car and found the leak coming from right behind a large fan. I dont know if its where the leak is or if its above it and falling down. I will try to figure it out. I heard a lot of people having an issue with a leak from the water pump. Just glad its not an engine problem.

How can i figure out if its the oil pressure sender or sensor? Thanks!
