My cruise control has recently stopped working and I've noticed that the brake lights also go out at the same time. Occasionally, the cruise will start working again (as will the brake lights). I've checked fuses underneath the dash and can't find a blown one, but since the cruise occasionally comes back on, it makes me think there's a short or some other problem. Any suggestions?

Check all your fuses. There are separate fuses for each tail light, and third brake light under the hood. Cruise and brakes are on the same circuit. If all is good there I would do a brake switch. Want to say $20-30 and about 10-20 min to replace if you haven't done one before.

Thank you to both. I didn't check any fuses under the hood, just under the dash. I'll check under the hood. If all are good, does anyone know the part number for the brake switch?

Since is intermittent then I doubt it is fuses, talking about cruise control and stop lights, but I could be wrong. The AC Delco #D1583G with adjustable pedals and AC Delco w/o adjustable pedals is #D891A.

Thank you for the part numbers. I also doubt a fuse since it comes back on occasionally, but I'll check. I didn't know Tahoes that old had adjustable pedals. Thanks again.
