CTSY fuse keeps blowing-FIXED

Hey all, over the past year, my ctsy lamp fuse has blown about ~20 times. It's very intermittent and over the past week it's blown 3 times.

My question is what exactly is connected to that fuse? I checked the 4 door switches (well, I pushed them and they seemed fine). I know the mirror visor lights are on them, as well as the map lights. I took out one of the map light assemblies because the switch broke and it's still blowing.

Any input/suggestions on what to try next would be great!

Thanks!

OMG you too.

My problem is What ever fuse i put it will not work.. it blow everything..

its for my turn signal.. it always blow not matter what amp i put into it..

it so but i put a nail into it and it turn red. and started melting plastic.

The quick way i fix it:
I got a THINK nail.. bend it, insert it. wait until it's kinda red.. and turn OFF engine.. let it cool off.. then turn engine again.. some weird reason. it work for me.. but i have always need water around my car just incase..

I KNOW I know its dangerous.. but it work..

i cant seem to find out what is causing this.. .. and i need turn signal to drive it..

easy fix ..

The Ctsy Fuse feeds all of the interior lamps in the truck. As you mentioned it does the vanity mirror lights to the glove compartment light.

This is a bit unusual because the circuits are wired “HOT”. Which means that all of the lights have power to them all the time and they are turned on by grounding them.

Normal circuits are switched on by turning on the +12. This one is backwards. You must have one of the “orange wires” pinched or otherwise compromised under the dash. Could also be in one of the wire harnesses going into the doors. (at the hinge side, where the wires bend back and forth )

It’s a bad idea to find it by putting a nail in the fuse holder. You could end up burning up other wires close to the damaged one.

If there have been mods done with radio and things, look in areas where wires were changed around. It is also possible that you have a damaged lamp socket, but it’s more likely to be the orange wired cut or chaffed under the dash.

You could rig up a 12 volt light bulb, in place of the fuse and then move the orange wires around until the light goes out or the interior lights come on. :)

Here are some wiring diagrams for the courtesy fuse, both base models and up level models.

Get base model here
Get up level model here.

Cig lighters plugs are not on this fuse.
95TwinTT is so correct. Odds are that a hot orange wire is rubbing the chassis somewhere and grounding out. I like his 12v bulb trick. That's what I would do to try to narrow this down.
Other places to look for are the door courtesy lamps, what if they got pinched somewhere where the door opens?

This fuse is a 20amp fuse, should not be melting anything, unless there is a dead short somewhere. Danger! Will Robinson, Danger!

I download a 75Gb program of Mitchell OnDemand . it works. but its kinda limited..
where did you get yours?

I'm not sure. The company that I work for also owns an auto garage. I think they pay x dollars a month for the service. I just remote into thier server and play, look up prices, repair/estimate/tsb notes, etc.

Hey man, don't tell too many people about that. Jammie Thomas just got nailed $1.5million for downloading 24 songs on her third trial last week. Fines for downloading one single item (song/program/****, etc) in the US range from $750 to $150,000. If you got it, cool, use it. But don't advertise.
