I did some quick searching and on TYF and google and have not come up with a solution yet and I was hoping the members here could help me come up with a solution to my current dilema.
And the story goes:
I purchased a 2002 Tahoe that I knew needed some work. Little did I know how much... I finally got it home and removed the HU that was installed in the car. Wiring nightmare back there. From what I can tell, the previous owner installed a rather nice system including a DVD Player & TV, Aftermarket HU, Amplifier, Sub(s), etc.
The HU that was installed when I purchased it was a cheap Sanyo HU that someone through in there. When I investigated the wiring, I was following wires across the cluster and looked down and saw what I thought was an after-market chime. Turned out to be a GPS Immobilizer/Ignition Interupt used by a lot of Subprime BHPH/Financing. I removed it and continued following wires back to the Drive-Side fuse box to discover that someone had tapped the HVACI fuse by wrapping the wire around it, and plugging it in. This person was smart enough/dumb enough (you decide) to upgrade the fuse to a 25A fuse.
Anyway... I do not fancy this type of wiring and have removed it and replaced the fuse with the marked size. I discovered a bunch of wiring that did not belong in the setup that was installed when I purchased and led me to the conclusion stated above. I have removed all of the wiring added, leaving only the speaker wiring and the factory wiring.
Fluff/back story^^....Straight to the point is below
My dilema is that sometime in the past, someone cut the factory harness, leaving my only option to splice the wires... I have been able to identify Black-Ground, Orange-Contant12V but have been unsuccessful in finding a Switched12V (Ignition).
In my searches, I consistently found that people were saying Dark Green was Switched 12V. I have two dark greens in my harness and pulled some mili-volts on one and about 8V on the other.
I read across the Radio (RDO) fuse on the DS fuse box to ground and was able to read with obvious slight loss, battery voltage. I read the Radio Amp fuse across the RDO1 fuse in the Engine Bay and discovered the Factory AMP was still installed.
Hoping to find a switched 12v going to the amp, I discoed and read all the wires to ground only to find Orange again as Constant 12v and no switched power source.
Other than pulling the fuse box on the DS and following that wire I am running out of ideas and was hoping someone could shed some light on this issue for me.
