ok so newer vehicles can go from 8cyl to 4 when cruising at speed, so i am wondering can any vehicle do this if the computer is tuned to do so, or could it be as simple as making a switch system to shut off 4 injectors? as i said in the header i need your smarts im just a guy with a dream

thats not really a new thing. i think it was Chrysler that did it first many years back i cant remember but anything can be done. but i dont think it would be worth it to convert or it would be a popular thing to do and you would aredy know about it ya know what i mean

to do a professional conversion it would cost a grip. more than the offset of gas you would save. and most shops won't touch it because it is not worth it. i remember one time in this old beater my father in law had (ran perfect but so ugly no one would drive) we disconnected the spark plug wires to cylinders 1,3,5,7 (it was carburated) and it still ran! don't know if it saved any gas but it was funny as hell to see it run!

If I was in your shoes I'd look at a newer model Tahoe that already has the option, or look into a motor swap with a newer model engine. I'm not a professional, but I don't think the swap would be cost effective either.
