Folks:

Doing a left front Hub replacement. Want to make sure I have the right size long socket for the hub nut for the cv joint. I drive an ‘08 Yukon Denali; I’m sure all are the same, but just in case. I’ve ordered ACDelco replacement HUB and knockoff axle since I’ve heard the hub should be OEM—if possible—but the axle isn’t as critical in terms of OEM quality.

Thanks!

I believe it's 35mm. I'd have to check out in the garage to make sure, but it's either 35mm or 36mm

Glad I asked because I don’t have a 35 or 36mm deep socket on hand. Thx.

Yup, just checked and it's 36mm

Also have a good/long torque wrench when you tighten it. Torque spec is like 177 ft lbs

My original nuts were 35mm and the Dorman replacement is 36mm. They are not to be re used. The bolts on the back can be reused and go to 133 ft lbs. Stop by and borrow mine, no use buying them when you'll only need them every 100K miles! ;)

When I first changed the hub on my 2001 I used the 36mm socket and it worked fine to remove the factory nut. Not sure if the nut I installed was 35 or 36, but the 36mm socket worked fine on that also.
