I know what the "pros" say but I was once one of them too. A plug is a permanent fix if it'll hold air. If not, patch it. I once took a tire with 7 plugs in it to the drag strip, did burnouts and all, all night long, just to prove to the naysayers that they hold up.

That is pretty awesome!

I once had a plug blow out on I-15 in Nevada on a hot summer day. I was driving my old Acura Legend and it was the right rear tire. My friend Laura was asleep in the back seat with her head on the wheel well when it blew. She shot up like a thunderbolt with a look on her face like she got shot. Lol. Had to drag everything out of the trunk on the side of the road to get to the spare. Pulled off at the next exit and found a tire shop. Since then, I haven’t trusted plugs unless they’re done by a pro. The one that blew was one I’d put in a few weeks before.
