2006 Yukon XL - the backlighting for the transfer case buttons and rear wiper controls are not working. Buttons function okay, but no backlighting at night. I changed out the transfer case button module with a different one and found same issue, so it's not the light bulbs. Any ideas on what do to next? Very annoying to drive at night and not see the backlit buttons.

Still could be burnt out bulbs in the switches, do you know for sure that the one you switched out actually worked? Very common for GM switches to have the backlighting bulbs burnt out!

I think I will try to solder in new bulbs then and see if that works. Looks like they are just standard 12 volt solder bulbs that I can get from Radio Shack, right? Any tricks to soldering them in?

I would check the brown/white wire on the plug for each of those and verify it has 12 volts when the headlights are on. If you don't have voltage on that wire something is wrong.
