Well last night I cut the plastic from the metal bracket. That seemed to be enough. Got the radio nearly in place. It's a mess of wires so I've got to come up with a cleaner way to route them.
Anyway all is installed then I notice the iPhone won't register with the radio. Cuss. Remove radio and notice one damn pissant wire has pulled loose from the iPhone cable pin connector heading to the radio. It's TINY too! So I guess I'm off to exploit my bestbuy warranty plan for a new radio this weekend!
