My searching has turned up issues mostly related to the dimmer switch for intermittent issues involving dash lights. In my case, here's what happened:
I removed then reinstalled the 4wd, wiper, and headlamp switches tonight. Now, the wiper switch has no lights, the 4wd sometimes goes out, then comes back on which I hit the dashboard with my fist, and the same thing happens with the headlamp switch. Somewhere, there are three intermittent wire connections, because all three go out or come back on independently.
Is the likely cause to be inside the switch itself, or in the connection? Everything else seems to work.
Right now, the only burned out bulbs seem to be for the 4H and 4L switches. Too bad, because I've read they're the hardest to change.
