I am trying to install a dashcam. But the 12 volt power outlet continues to deliver power when the truck is shut off.
What to do?
Where to can I connect the dashcam, so it will turn off when the ignition is switched off?

You can use a relay, and have the switching source be linked to your ignition fuse, or another key on hot source.

Use one of these that will fit whatever fuse you choose to use as your source:

Look for a item powered by accessory (ignition) to tap.

In your fuse box under the dash on the drivers side look for SEOACC (I think 2) and use that for power.

you said surface, but i think you meant source, which is what i said.

basically, you need to find a 12v source that is only "hot" (providing voltage) when the key is turned to the "on" position.

then, use that source as a signal input for a relay. that way, your dash cam is only operational when the key is in the "on" position.
