Had some time today, so I thought I'd install my DDM kit...

DDM 55w 8k Headlights...

Here's the kit:

and my truck:

Remove the headlights by turning these two pins and pulling them up and out. The headlight will now be loose and ready to come out.

**Don't let it fall**

Unplug the connectors and place the headlight on your workbench.

On the Denali, the low beam is the bulb closest to the adjusting rod, remove your old bulb by turning it and place it safely somewhere clean it won't break, in case you need it later...

Then remove the HID bulb from it's clear case (I had to break the base of the clear part to get it off the wire) and carefully put it in the headlight housing.

*** Do not touch this or any bulbs with your bare hands ***

in my truck, the black wire went to the "+" side of the ballast.

I pulled the radiator cover off to mount the ballasts... The clips pop up in the middle then pull all the way out.

The ballast fits perfect here:

I had to drill a hole for the wire tie, but BE CAREFUL IF YOU DO THIS there is an AC line behind this part, but it works perfect...

Now, plug al the connectors in... the two from the ballast to the bulb, then the OEM plug to the one on the bottom of the headlight housing.

Before and after during the day...

this is how I mounted the driver's side ballast. the hole to the right in this pic is useless, drill the hole like I did on the left, but BE CAREFUL, the transmission cooler is behind there.

HID's upper and lower...

Nice post, I like the simple walk-through. Should alleviate some of the redundant HID questions.

Might be good to ask a mod to move to the Tech Section, too. And sticky the damn thing. They don't sticky things, soon they get buried, and we start all over with the same questions.

There's a decent space below the headlights and behind the bumper lights for ballasts as well. That's where mine are, but I like yours, too. Frankly, I think you had more patience in that regard...lol. I just stuffed the ballasts down there and they fit semi-tightly, so I called it good. Easier to replace later, too. Don't have anything to disconnect or cut.

If you have time, maybe post an output shot against a wall at night. I'd like to see how the OEM projectors handle the light and cutoff.

*BUMP*

answered my question of mounting locations

If I were you I would just get 3m double sided tape at a parts store rather than drilling a hole for a zip tie.

I hadn't planned on drilling a hole, but the location itself is what I was debating about when I installed my HIDs. nice to get another perspective.

my question is, with heat generated from the engine itself driving, will the heat affect the glue, will the tape hold?
