First time I installed an overhead dvd system in one of these I had a battery drain issue. Tapped into an accessory circuit but DVD system caused the vehicles computer to stay active when key was off. I had to use a relay to isolate the system
Whelp...dead battery this morning. Looks like I need the relay

I bet the shop charged your battery. Might just be time for a new battery.

Final report, new, more dependable shop reports that yes you do need to isolate the system like ponchonutty said, otherwise it will drain the battery by keeping the BCM active. Problem solved

I put a switch on the side of my oem Rse monitors because I noticed they would randomly stay on. None the less when I had the battery symptoms you have only a new battery solved it.

I just put a switch in the oem accessory wire. I noticed one day the monitor turning on and off with the truck just sitting. It didn't start to play or anything it just lit up black. I have a second monitor installed from a ESV also so I just put a switch. It's on the side drivers and easy to hit.

Ahh, good thanks. What should I tell the shop guy when he says he spliced into the dome light but that shouldn't be a problem. He seems incredulous that I would be blaming him for my battery drain.
okay were does this guy work im no expert car stereo installer but ive gained quite a bit a of knowledge and expierience with car stereos over the years and even i know you shouldnt splice something like that with the dome light a roof dvd system probably pulls a little tomuch current for the domelight wiring i would think the best place to splice into is with your head unit

Agreed. He should have sourced a solid ignition and straight power source and fused both.

Seemed like a reputable shop, claimed they knew what they were doing. They did tap into an accessory line and not the dome light. second shop was farther away, but they knew you had to isolate it. Should have just taken it to them in the first place. God bless this forum, many issues solved for me here!
