I'll throw my 2 cents in . The only time we ever experienced the high speed wobbles on a stock 04 Tahoe was when running older studded tires down the I-5. I immediately removed them and have not had a problem since.

The front end had recently been rebuilt with Moog parts so kinda ruled out loose link issues, although the alignment was not perfect. I figure the soft rubber compound combined with low tire pressures (winter driving) lead to the carcass sidewall deforming at speed.
That was basically what ended up happening with mine, but it was tread separation between the plies. 2 tires had what felt like air bubbles, small humps about 2x4" that you could see if you got eye level with the tread. Been almost 2 years since I replaced them and haven't had any issues yet.
