I have mother of pearl paint. I am torn between black or chrome. This is my first vehicle with this color. Opinions please.

Mother of pearl paint...? Is that an OEM paint color? Custom?

You might get better feedback and input if you add some pics of your ride to the thread here.

Pics? Assuming you mean something like the GM White Diamond paint. I'm not too big on chromies myself. Not to say they don't look good; just not my style. That said, body-colored rims for you would require you throw a fair amount more money at it, although that's an option, perhaps with chrome accents. Black wheels might look ok if you black the trim, but on White Diamond paint, the black might also look weird. Or might not. Just my thoughts. Pics or it didn't happen.

For me, I like the look of the chrome wheels, black out wheels look good on all black vehicles. But since you mention a white color I don't think that the black wheels would look right, but remember it's a personal decision.

Is there a lot of snow where you live? Do they treat/salt the roads?

My chrome wheels are peeling. I just recently purchased new ones but have yet to have tires installed on them. They're machined finish. They also make polished wheels if you want the shine of chrome but without the chrome.
