Can't decide whether to buy Powerstop or Delco for a front brake overhaul? There's about $30 in it as the Delco has a core return for the calipers. Also most of the Delco parts are from the 'professional' line.

What do you guys think?

I screwed up when I replaced the rear cylinders and definitely got air in my master cylinder. So if I have to take it off I'm going to replace that too with a Delco. Was a cheap one from Autozone that has always felt like the reservoir will fall off, although it actually hasn't. Truck stops fine at the moment, but an emergency stop might not turn out well for whoever is in front of it.

I hoped the ABS bleed would help, but it doesn't seem to have done much.

It's also her birthday today. She came off the line 24 years ago today. So I figured I'd buy her something nice. All the current parts are original, and it's all a tax write off as I'm self-employed.

If it helps you decide any, the powerstop are just re manufactured ac delco's but they do paint them a pretty red color. when you look under the "info" the powerstop are all re-maned, there rotors are ac delco also but they drill and slot them, they may have there own brand not drilled or slotted though I haven't looked at the details that close on there standard rotors.

I did not know that. I've never done a direct comparison and I don't like red calipers but I typically buy power stop because I thought they were higher quality.

Knowing this I'll buy Delco when it comes to OEM style replacement brakes from now on.

i have the full powerstop kit on my 97 z36 or whatever. supposedly the hd kit. the calipers are no different than stock but i did prefer the red powder coat. they have been on the truck for a couple of years now and still clean up to a nice red color vs bare steel calipers that would have the normal surface rust. the rotors are the same still look good with no real signs of wear or serious rust. i live in ne pa so i deal with the crap they put on the roads in winter so i wanted everything to fight rust off better.

Why only the two options? I don’t want to derail your thread with other suggestions but...
Adding to that, note that a lot of Delco and Raybestos parts use the same photos, making me think that the only difference is the box and price.

Thanks for the replies. I'm sure this has been discussed before but as search doesn't work any more I could only find one post with 'powerstop' in it. I'm still not sure which to buy.

I just called and my MC is still under warranty at Autozone. I've cheaped out for the moment and I'm going to inspect everything today and replace the MC and see where that gets me.

from my research raybestos is the only manufacture that makes new calipers (from there own cast design) besides ac delco for our trucks, they may also remanufacture the delco's as well it would be disclosed in the item details. the only other one's that make new calipers are the big brake manufactures that I know of, not the defacto but rabestos was the only one I could find all the others are remaned when you look into them more, some will straight out say "new" but when you dig a little deeper they are all remaned beside some rabestos.
