this is why there is always a core charge on calipers & brake pads, it cost's them pennies on the dollar to rebuild them

I save a lot of old parts believing one day I will refurb them myself. Not so sure it will ever happen.

Pads have at least 1/2 left. Everything else looks fine. I spent more time cleaning old grease.

I was getting some clicking noise from the front passenger side when in reverse and pulsing the brakes that I thought was the caliper/pads but I couldn't find anything out of place.

Passenger side rotor had a nice shiny braking surface but the drivers side has a lot of tarnish on it and looks like it may have got hot. They are cheap replacements put on a few years ago, but have little wear.

Picked up the MC from Autozone. Bought a bench bleed kit, Dorman 13911, from O'Reilly. It comes with black tubing, but because I wanted to be able to see the bubbles I screwed around to find some clear plastic tubing. When I got home I found there were two perfect size pieces that came in the box with the Duralast MC.

Have the MC bench bled and ready to go. Was a little easier with the kit, and I'm 99.9% sure there's no air in it, but not much easier than bleeding it with the ports blocked. I didn't get the chance to get it in before the neighbor came home that parks next to me. Access denied.

Calipers and the lines aren't that expensive and mine are 24 years old. I figured it can't hurt to change them. I also keep anything I replace that's usable for just in case. One bonus of the PS calipers was no core return so I get a pair (to store believing one day I will refurb them and put them on.) I don't think they are really necessary. Mine aren't leaking.

I just refurbed the rear brakes with all Delco parts and am very happy with the result. My brakes aren't great, but the truck stops fine if I'm cruising around. But it's slow to brake hard, with loads pedal travel atm. If the MC makes a decent difference, I may just put this on hold for a bit as I have other issues on the truck that could use the money/time thrown at them. If not I'll go for better pads or pads/rotors at minimum.

I'm trying to keep everything OEM lately and could happily go with Delco, but keep hearing good things about PS and is why I asked. Thanks for all opinions and replies.

For those in need, here’s a 15% off coupon for Centric / PowerStop brake store.

Really cool guys. They manufacture a GM rotor for their BBK kit that’s identical but half the price through the value brand, Centric.

If they don’t have an X drilled version they’ll have their own shop machine them for you.

PowerStop & Centric are the same company. buybrakes.com is their website.
