Those holes look like they're for a socket head cap screw:

Is that what you're using? Or am I not accurately picturing how the arrangement is set up?

I see what you're saying but no the rubber isolator goes between the trans and shifter. The shifter only has space for the bolt threads to go through and I use flange head grade 8 bolts.

you could use aluminum too. Just add gasket maker on both sides.
