Denali cluster in suburban

I bought a gauge cluster from a 2002 Denali for the looks and the temp gauge. I got it plugged up and everything works great but I have a question about the temp gauge. It takes a while but the needle registers about 150 degrees after driving a while. Does that seem too low? Not sure what a warmed up 4L60 should be at. I was planning on doing the stepper motor addition to my suburban gauge cluster but got the Denali cluster for only $40. If anyone is thinking of doing this swap you definately should. It looks great and only takes a few minutes and a 7 mm socket. 1 mod down 100+ more to go. I'd add pictures but don't know how to. If anyone has any info on the temp gauge please let me know. Thanks.

So one can get a cluster from a Denali/Tahoe with a transmission temp gauge. Just plug it in and the trans temp gauge will work ?

Yes. If you install a temp gauge in a cluster that didn`t come with one it won`t work. The cluster needs to be programmed for the temp gauge to work. If it came with the temp gauge it`s plug and play.

This, I never had to program my old truck when I went to a 2500 cluster with a trans temp gauge. All trucks have the necessary wiring to send the signal, it just comes down to the gauge cluster making use of those pins.

I can just install a denali cluster w a temp gauge in my Yuk and it'll work? Great, now another mod to add to the list!

Edit: Does the odometer remain accurate, or does it change to whatever the new cluster reads?

Odo reads whatever mileage Is on the new cluster. All info on stock cluster is lost as its saved to the cluster itself not vehicles computer. You can have mileage reprogrammed tho
