Reading this thread- Been debating about changing out my factory grille, and going with the Denali grille, blacked out of course. I (like a few others) am not a huge fan of chrome. Monochromatic color has always been a signature of my vehicles- Moving on, for those who have wanted to "black" out your GMC logo on the front and back, and wanted alternatives to paint/plati-dip, etc. I experimented with an idea a friend suggested, vinyl. I found a cheap roll of vinyl film with the "carbon fiber" pattern. (A roll of 20' x 3' cost me around 20 bucks). Cutting a couple of rectangles out, I placed it onto the logos (it was a warm summer day, but I imagine a heat gun could also be used) allowed it to "settle" into all of the bevels and grooves. I used a sanded popsicle stick, and chopstick to feather the vinyl into the tight areas, and then trimmed it with an exacto knife. The end result was a black carbon fiber logo. And, if I get tired of it, or it wears out, I peel it off, clean it with alcohol and do it again. Took about 20 minutes and the cost was well worth the look. If anyone is interested, I'll post a close up photo- It's raining right now in Southern California (has been for what feels like weeks). So, might be a little bit.
