i would have a 6.2 in a heartbeat...but i couldnt beat the price, mileage and the wife was happy to have a newer toy to start with...we will see what is left in the end...
if you compare the worst 5.3 setup and the escalade it looks like this.
tahoe 2007 2wd 5.3 A4 trans - 0-60 8.4 sec 1/4 imle 16.2
escky 2011 2wd 6.2 A6 trans - 0-60 6.5 sec 1/4 mile 14.8
tahoe 2011 2wd 5.3 A6 trans - 0-60 7.3 sec 1.4 mile ---
the A6 trans has a low first gear helping but once the suvs are rolling the acceleration is very close. most of the time is made up in take off.
a 5.3 with a few bolt ons should be able to close the gap in performance easily.

Agree, but then again, I didn't buy a 6000lb truck and expect it to 11's.....
hear that, ive contemplated putting a small turbo t60 or something for instant spool for towing help but other than that i wouldnt bother. the 5.3 has plenty of power for towing and the 6.2 does too, neither one can hold a candle to a powerstroke or duramax so towing itsnt too much of a concern.
as for racing or whos faster, that should not really be a thought....both are slow
