Different back glass......whats the reason?

What is it that determines which back glass a truck has? I have been looking for a little while around town in traffic and in parking lots and I can't seem to notice and specific patterns like year model, GMC or CHevy or sunroof or not.
I have seen tahoe, yukon and suburbans have either one, only thing I have started to see in trend is that the style back glass on the grey truck you don't see as many of as the one on the other truck.

The 2nd one looks like an aftermarket addition or something that comes w/ aftermarket back glass. just my .02

big negative my truck has the second glass (grey Truck)
it was from 05+ SUV that started to come with that type of glass.

ive got an 04 and mine is like the gray

I believe it 's the year that determines which glass it has. maybe 03 or 04 to 06.

I have the same setup as the 2nd pic.....I've got an 06'

I had the 2nd glass originally but after it was broken out they replaced with 1st style.

yeah I forgot to put in my original post that the gray truck is an 04 and the white one is a 05
