so far, i have several trips totaling about 130 miles each...all at 75-80 mph and loaded with 6 people plus overnight gear at the least. i have not seen a dip in mileage yet. i have not done any hand calc'd trips, but the electronic sides have not changed. actually got slightly better last trip.

the use of M4 is not a good indicator as it affects gearing and rpm. the oddity for me is that i have increase throttle pedal response by 15%, this equates to more fuel being used at every single take off, yet no ill effects

other than one comment about how much nicer it drives...( my wifes daily) she hasnt mentioned any difference in how the trans feels. i can notice it, but it needs a little throttle input to really tell.

okay sounds like I would benefit from the tune just like yours. I’ve been using M5 in the meantime, except for long highway trips, with no noticable change in mpg.

i also ran M5 in tow haul, prefer that over using 6th...know i have no issues with letting the vehicle do its thing.

the TPS and Trans adjustments alone were enough...i only selected the 87 octane tune as i noticed on warmer days it would get a slight spark nock under lite throttle tip in on the interstate

anyone running hot shot engine 'stiction' reducer?

I did the Diablo intune 3 originally to raise idle and turn off AFM at about 10k miles. I then decided to do a Lew tune. Truck runs soo much better. I now have 36k miles and it runs great. I think the key to not have lifter problems is to keep oil clean. So short intervals. I do 3-5k changes. There are little oil ports in the lifters that can become clogged when the oil is not changed frequently. This doesn’t mean it can happen but I think it greatly reduces the chances along with disabling it.

I’ve called a couple shops that use HPtuners to just change the DOD setting to keep it from V4 on a 2016 suburban. One was 350 and the other was 400. Is this really the going rate?

I’m thinking 250-300 would be be better for the probably half hour job. Isn’t it just about 100 in credits?

I know it could be cheaper but I’m not willing to mail off my suburbans computer.
Anyone know a good shop in VA that can go in there and change settings? I’m using M5 lately because the Range has been killing my battery. Thanks ,

John

After several months of research I went with a guy on ebay that has you send your ECM to him he programs and and ships back same day. I used overnight mail to him and he used priority mail back. I took it out on a Monday and had it back on Thursday. I paid a little extra for AFM delete and slight performance tune. $104 I can definitely tell a difference in they way it drives and better fuel mileage. I would recommend this guy. Removing an ECM is super easy no tools required.

I’d love to.. but I don’t think my wife is getting talked into that. Maybe drive to Nebraska and back.. but trusting any of shipping companies these days while a 40k$ paperweight sits in the driveway ... I dunno about that

Diablo.
That way you can set the tune for your preferences and flash it back for the wifey.
Diablo has tested tunes and its nice when its in your control.

And you can swap between perf tunes and MPG tunes for long drives.

This is from their website...
Not bad for $365.....and you can play with it until you like it.

  • Simple, Plug and play performance- add horsepower and torque without even popping the hood!
  • Pre-Loaded performance options allow for huge performance increases.
  • Customize your tune with the Predator's internal adjustable parameter options.
  • Internet updateable using free Ignition Update software.
  • High Resolution Color Screen, and 5 buttons for easy navigation.
  • NOTE: This device does accept custom tunes from DiabloSport's CMR custom tuning software.
  • Diablo Tune: 18HP 27TQ
  • Diablo Tow 15HP 24TQ
  • 87 Performance/Economy 12HP 21TQ
  • Data Logging - Y
  • Check Clear DTCs - Y
  • Accepts Custom Tunes from CMR - Y
  • Calibrate Speedometer for Gear Ratio - Y
  • Calibrate Speedo for Tire Size - Y
  • Top Speed Limiter - Y
  • Rev Limiter - Y
  • Shift Points - Y
  • Shift Firmness - Y
  • Disable Active Fuel Management - Y
I might just buy it to see what the tunes look like.
They don't have any trans tunes for a 10L90 though.
But I'm interested in greater fuel economy......
Like going from 25-27mpg to 27-29 would be cool.

Around town I get like 11, because I can't keep my foot out of it....LOL.

I’m leaning towards the Diablo.. hopefully I can get it soon. I hear ya on the MPG. Since only about a 1/4 or 1/3 of my miles are highway it really doesn’t matter much how great it is. I always end up averaging around 16.5 cause the everyday stoplight traffic is something closer to 15.

Here's another thought.....
You shouldn't really jack with your wife's ride....its a lose/lose. 1. She won't notice the perf increase and 2. if you break it she'll be unhappy.
She'll be more fun if you buy her a $500 necklace as opposed to buying her a $500 tune.
Then she won't mind when you do one of the below.

You should soup up the Silverado....
Drop in a turbo and a 4l80.....and spin those tires bald with that 4.10....
Or just a 6.0L/243 heads/big cam, to LS2 spec with 500hp.....at 200K its time to start thinking about a new warp drive.

Yeah you might be right! Well ok.. it’s for me too.. I keep thinking a brake line is gonna fail on the old Silverado and cause me to crash... I’m not gonna do the brake lines until I do the 6.0 swap.. or warp drive

so I’m driving the suburban more and more and towing with it and everything. So even though she drives it mostly, I want the DOD off, a little more performance, and I’d like the put in a CAI filter so it sounds more powerful too.

Now me being the one to potentially mess it up is a serious concern and why I was really considering paying a lot to a shop.

This mod will give you the sound and some performance for free...trim out everything you can below the filter but retain all factory mounting points.
