Ditched the 22 Snowflakes for 18" AT4 Wheels

Saved 15lbs per corner - 60lb total unsprung weight, and it is like night and day. I can really appreciate the Magnaride now. Gone is the strange wobbly feeling I felt with the 22s. Its beautiful now on some really bumpy curves. Much better than the premium smooth ride 18" combo on my burb as well.

The 265/70r18 Conti Terrain Contact ATs are a bit more aggressive in life than I expected seeing pics, but they still ride very smooth. No rubbing on stock ride height. I know its not quite as purdy as it was with the 22s but the ride quality is 100% worth it to me...

Unsprung weight always makes a difference. Glad you shared what the difference was. What were the tires on the 22" wheels and were they needing replaced?

Goodyear eagle touring 285/45r22 with plenty of tread. My first 22s on any ride and I could feel the weight from the get go. FB market has plenty of 18" at4 takeoffs, and mine had wrangler 265 65s with good tread (not duratracs). Road a lot better than I thought they would on way to tire shop, but I wanted these Contis. Think I can get a couple hundy for them, and maybe 1800 for the snowflakes...

I agree 100% my wife's 2017 has the 22 inch wheels and they handle well on smooth roads, etc. But, not so great on bumos, snow, heavy rain, etc. I have some nice GM 18" wheels with nitto tires on them for winter. Night and day difference for sure.

After putting low profile tires on my daughter's 2015 fusion this morning, I'm done with that setup.......forget any tire with a 45 in the ratio size. The short sidewall is a PITA to work with. Once the tires are shot on the 22" wheels, I'm going to sell them and just keep 18"........and not let either of my kids buy cars with those type of tires either. LOL

Gone are the days of the 15" rim with a good 6 inches of sidewall to soak up bumps. Floating down the road in the Olds 98 with a 400 under the hood.....good stuff back then. Basically like driving down the road from your couch

Based on this thread I purchased a set of these wheels this morning.

Still trying to decide on tires; 275/65 (32") or 285/60 (31.5"). Would like to stay as close to the currently installed 305/45-22 (32.8") section/tread widths with an SL rating...no need for XL, D, or E Load ratings. Currently leaning towards the 285/60 for appearance and that I'm considering a 2/4, but may end up going the 275/65 route...still undecided.

And the days of 15" wheels with 36" swampers. That's what lifted truck tires are supposed to look like.
