Long post sorry
Just picked up a 2002 Yukon Denali with 125,000miles on it and have been putting more miles on it with no problems until yesterday when the wife notices it is leaning to the drivers side. It handles fine and I had just filled it up with gas so I assumed thats all it was. No info light on dash.
Today I went to check things out and the shock's air boots look really worn, and the air compressor is not working. I lifted the truck with rear wheels hanging, turned on ignition for a few minutes to trick the sys into thinking it is too high and then I lowered it and turned it on again. Nothing from air compressor. Removed air compressor and bench tested 12V + to red wire and - to black wire. Nothing again.
I think the trucks autoride has not been working since day one.
I have no plans to tow anything and I am considering ditching the system in favor of some bilstien gas shocks and dropping the rear 2 inches.
It seems this will save me having to deal with autoride ever again, will be cheaper and the truck gets a lower look
Questions:
Why do I have no info center warning light?
Why is it leaning and not just lower?
Why cant I tell the thing has even failed? Honestly the truck rides pretty damn good with no air in the rear shocks at all.
More Questions:
Please help here if you can.... there is too much info to sift through on the interwebz
If I only want a 2 inch drop to the rear which belltech coil springs should I get and which Bilstein shock whould be a good match for the 2" drop
I plan to leave the front alone, Ill loosen the torsion bars for a 1" drop, but do I need to disconnect the wires to those shocks or do anything since the autoride is disconnected in the rear?
Thanks for taking the time to read all that! I appreciate everyones posts here this seems to be a great forum with tons of info.
