Hey guys. Well i decided to keep the truck...the thought of it leaving after all the work i put into it was just unbearable. Im planning on doing some other stuff but currently I'm really not happy with the ride quality. In the last month or so I have ghost clunks/bangs front and rear (ball joints in the front or upper a-arm bushings? idk) But the ride seems a lot harsher compared to when i first installed it. The kit i bought from NorcalSS was the previous 3/5+ kit with the DJM arms, BT 4230 (dark gray) springs, hardware kit, Calmax front shocks and BT SP rear shocks. Free travel mod was done too...i did notice my jounce stops aren't touching the a-rms at all and with the help of Max's threads I've realized that they're supposed to touch..its the way GM intended it. Apparently z71 stops will help...ordered them today. THinking about the helper bags too for the rear.

my question is what do you guys prefer...the belltech street perfomance shocks in the front or the Bilsteins. The Calmax shocks just don't seem to dampen worth of shit anymore...just skips over bumps. I used to be able to actually drive over speed bumps in my condo...now, i have to crawl..literally one wheel at a time. Its driving me crazy. its really making me wish i didn't lower the truck now. The rear seems ok...just the random bottom out but im sure the helper bags will eliminate that.

I've done a ton of research on which shocks work with the a-arms and found a couple really good threads, but non of them seem to really talk about the ride quality of each. I PM'd Tony and his thoughts on the Bilsteins is that they're too firm and bouncy... just want more opinions. I dont mind a firm ride. Ive had lower vehicles my whole life but this is ridiculous...rides literally like a tank..like theres minimal bound and rebound...

Any and all thoughts would greatly be appreciated. (sorry for the long thread)

PS..ITS FREAKING COLD IN CT RIGHT NOW!!... -1 with the windchill.

-Jay

Bilsteins!! Do it. PM M Hankel, nickleahy23 and Yuko04. All ditched the belltechs in favor of bilsteins and are much happier with the ride.

talk to godoy he had the belltech street performane and liked the ride a lot. Also there is another member that will be posting up soon also same thing went from djm to belltech sp and liked the ride a lot.

mhankel never had the belltech sp. he had bilsteins from the start in the front but he had the belltech nitro shocks which is the old version and no comparison to the belltech street performance shocks

yuko04 put the belltech street performance in the rear to replace the djm. Last talking to him he never put in bilsteins in the front/rear buttttt maybe he had and I didnt see it posted alex.

either way going from the djm to the belltech sp or bilstein like alex said will be a better ride then what you have now. i think bilstein has a 30 day guarantee on the parts where if you dont like them you can return it also kragen does the same thing so if you dont like it no sweat just return it and try another shock. That makes it easy to try out the shock and return if doesnt work out

Thanks for the responses guys. Ill pm them for sure to get there opinion on them.

Tony thanks for the detailed response. Just want the suspension to dampen again..the truck has developed a bunch of new interior rattles due to this...

no problem the belltech sp shocks with the tb coils or the new 6" rear drop coils rides really nice in rear and in front never heard complaints form the belltech sp line. While the nitro series like I said not worth doing thats why I no longer sell them for past 3 years.

Yeah the back is good...the 4230 springs ride nice coupled with the BT SP shocks...its the front thats the issue. I think its a mix of having minimal tension on the torsion bar (driver side is 99% backed out and passenger is 75% out) not having the jounce stop touching the a-arm and crap ass shocks.

I wonder if i should crank the front up and just go with 2" spindle...dont really wanna put any more money in the suspension though...gonna be hard enough to buy shocks when these arent even 7 months old.

Change the shocks and torsions backed out is normal. Even stock side to side they are turned different.

Getting rid of the djm shocks and moving to the belltech sp or bils like alex suggested will make it ride better.
