Do i need a new battery ?

so a couple times now in the three months I've owned my 06 Yukon it hasn't started for me ,, i give it a boost and she starts and runs fine ,, and always starts the next time ,, now i don't have a lot of electrical issues ,, my heated front seats don't work and I've seen the lights flickering a cpl times ,, today it was lacking cranking amps for sure and my clock reset back to 12.00 so i know there's an issue i'm just not sure or convinced its my battery ,, and we had a tester on it while running and the alternator is doing its job

Welcome Mark. First, how old is the battery? Get the date code off of it and look it up. Even a new(er) battery can go bad. Second, check your cables and grounds, look for corrosion but you cannot see all of it. Go to a competent shop and ask them to load test the battery after checking all the cables and what they connect to.

Do you have an advanced bi-directional scan tool or know someone who has one? Such a tool can make short work of figuring out the problem without spending money unnecessarily.

thank you for your response ,, im really kinda fishing ,, i honestly don't believe its the battery i am more leaning towards it being the negative battery cable shorting somehow or somewhere ,, i am really looking for someone else to randomly suggest this fix for a commonly known issue ,, but again im really not sure yet

More will be along and chime in. It is quite common to have to replace the cables after time.

Find out what kind and how old that battery is since she's new to you.

Any auto parts store can do a load test on your battery to see if it needs to be replaced. They can also test your alternator if you think that may be an issue. Low voltage can cause a lot of weird problems. On my wife's old Jeep the alternator went out and it cause crazy problems with the tach, the radio, and the headlights. Sometimes they'd work, sometimes not, with no discernible pattern.

Eventually the battery died and that was when we realized the alternator was probably toast. Replaced both the battery and the alternator and it ran perfectly.

So after we put the battery on a load tester it came back bad ,,, so we now own a new one !! guess when it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck it really is a duck ,,, thanks all
