I ordered my head unit and harness adapters and just making sure I have all the right stuff comming and don't need anything else. My Hoe has onstar, Bose, and rear entertainment system.

HU is a Pioneer AVH-X5600BHS and it comes with a American International GM-K422 install kit. Also a antenna adapter.

I got the GMOS-014 harness adapter.

I also got Metra Axxess ASWC-1 Universal Steering Wheel Control Interface.

Hey Wayne,

Assuming you are only replacing your head unit and wiring into all of the stock components, it seems like you have everything, but I just wanted to mention a soldering iron, appropriate solder (60/40 rosin core, I used Kester 44), heat shrink tubing and heat gun, a good wire cutter and stripper. Some Velcro for bundling wires and good quality tie wraps too. Also some high quality electrical tape like 3M/Scotch Super 88.

It's also nice to have a set of plastic/nylon pry tools for interior trim pieces - you really don't need them on the dash, but if you do the rest of the system, they'll come in handy. I got a cheap set at harbor freight.

Just as something to keep in mind, if you go back later and add external amps, you need to pull your HU again to add RCA cables, "amp on" wire too.

I got everything covered by the sounds of it. I know I'll have to pull it when I add to it. Before I do that I want to do some electrical upgrades. Mine has the Bose system so I have the sub in the console. I believe it's a 8". If I can I will upgrade that and add a 10" under the back seat. I have a good bit to figure out.

Got it all installed today. The radio itself is way to powerfull for the stock speakers. 10 is about max on the volume before the speakers start acting up. It rocks though. Install took a few hours to figure out all the wiring and get everything tuned in for the chimes and what not. On my rear entertainment I don't have sound through the radio, haven't checked with headphones yet. I thought I might have that problem and will work that out later. Also, put a dvd in the HU and can get sound but no picture. Keeps telling me it is illigal to watch a video while driving. lol. Still figuring out everything the radio does but overall I'm happy with it. I can't wait to get amps, speakers, and sub done.

The video should work while in park. To get it to work while driving, you need a parking brake bypass. That model uses a double pulse bypass. You can find it on Amazon or there may be a video on how to make your own.
